Psalm 40 (Week 4)
PSALM (WEEK 4)
Psalm 40:9–10 (NLT): “I have told all your people about your justice. I have not been afraid to speak out, as you, O LORD, well know. I have not kept the good news of your justice hidden in my heart; I have talked about your faithfulness and saving power. I have told everyone in the great assembly of your unfailing love and faithfulness.”
David is declaring with his mouth what God has done and what He means to him!
David as a king is expected to lead on all fronts: governance, justice, rule, battle, and God’s directives (law).
David as a Shepherd is where he spent most of his time, attempting to understand, grow, and share in his life with God.
“I have told all your people about your justice,” is David as a king declaring His commitment and relationship to God to fulfill his role.
“I have not been afraid to speak out,” is David speaking publicly about the justice, righteousness, and faithfulness of God.
Testimony is a vital part of reinforcing God’s covenant faithfulness in the community, in the church, and in our own life.
For David, silence would have been unfaithfulness
Justice, faithfulness, saving power, unfailing love, right, reliable, strong to save, and rooted in love… these words sum up the covenant experience with God.
Silence keeps hope locked away. Speaking out multiplies it.
