Poolside Chat

THE POOL - COMMUNITY

  • The pool represents community, a shared place where people belong and grow together.

Acts 2:44–47 (NLT): “All the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had... And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

  • Healthy church life begins when believers choose fellowship over isolation and a willingness to be apart.  Being a part is a learned way.

  • “The person who loves their dream of community will destroy community, but the person who loves those around them will create community.  A Christian fellowship lives and exists by the intercession of its members for one another, or it collapses.” — Dietrich Bonhoeffer

THE POOL TOYS - GIVING

  • At a pool, everyone brings something—towels, snacks, chairs. Nobody shows up expecting to only take.

  • Giving in the kingdom works the same way. It is not about obligation; it is about participation.  Giving is not pressure; it is joyful participation in God’s work.

2 Corinthians 9:7 (NLT): “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”

  • “What makes the Dead Sea dead? Because it is all the time receiving, never giving out anything.” - D.L. Moody

THE POOL FOOD, EATING POOLSIDE - SERVING OTHERS

  • The food you bring is serving others, practical love that meets needs - it's giving up who you are, what is your best and your worst that comes to the table.

Mark 10:45 (NLT): “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

  • Serving is what love looks like when it becomes action.

  • When we serve others we are making a difference in...

  • “We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.” - Mother Teresa

THE POOL DIVING BOARD - LIFE IN CHRIST

  • The diving board represents the leap of drawing near to Christ each day.

James 4:8 (NLT): “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”

SONG:

The long awaited rains

Have fallen hard upon the thirsty ground

And carved their way to where

The wild and rushing river can be found

And like the rains

I have been carried here to where the river flows.

My heart is racing and my knees are weak as I walk to the edge

I know there is no turning back once my feet have left the ledge

And in the rush I hear a voice

That's telling me it's time to take the leap of faith.

There is a supernatural power

In this mighty river's flow

It can bring the dead to life

And it can fill an empty soul

And give a heart the only thing

Worth living and worth dying for.

But we will never know the awesome power of the grace of God

Until we let ourselves get swept away into this holy flood

So if you'll take my hand

We'll close our eyes and count to three

And take the leap of faith, come on let's go

I'm diving in

I'm going deep

In over my head I want to be

Caught in the rush

Lost in the flow

In over my head I want to go

The river's deep

The river's wide

The river's water is alive

So sink or swim I'm diving in
